Description
I photographed this image of small forces of erosion at work on granite in the Superstition Wilderness on Christmas Day 2016. Lichen, moss and plant life work to break down the structure of the granite rock slowly over time ultimately causing the rock to break away only to start the process on smaller bits of rock each time.
The Superstition Wilderness is located in the Tonto National Forest east of Apache Junction, Arizona.
